Our Story

CōTZ was founded in 2002 by a plastic surgeon whose singular mission was to create healthier mineral sunscreens that people want to wear daily. The result was an all-mineral sunscreen collection that feels elegant while keeping your skin safe from harmful UVA-UVB rays.

CōTZ contains no chemical sunscreens, which can be irritating, penetrate your skin, and absorb UV energy. Mineral sunscreens are inherently gentle, and work by reflecting away harmful rays. So you never have to worry about harmful rays heating up and absorbing into your skin.

What Makes CōTZ Unique?

CōTZ stands for Contains Only Titanium and Zinc. All of our products use only the mineral sunscreen active ingredients Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide in sheer, elegant formulas. We never use chemical sunscreen filters in our products.

What Makes your mineral sunscreen different from other mineral sunscreens?

CōTZ mineral sunscreens are known for their uncommonly light, silky feel and virtually invisible appearance on skin. That’s because we use only the highest quality active and inactive ingredients, delivering excellent protection in formulas.

What gives CōTZ tinted products their color? Do they contain dyes? Will the non-tinted products make my skin white?

All CōTZ products do not contain dyes or fragrances. The tint in our tinted products comes from Iron Oxide, a natural mineral ingredient. Our non-tinted products leave a soft finish, but no pale white cast.

Do your products contain Benzene?

CōTZ recently had all of our sunscreen products tested by an independent lab. Those test results are now available and we are pleased to report that NO benzene was detected. You can continue to use CōTZ with confidence.

Are CoTZ products safe to use with tattoos?

Sun protection is important to protect your tattoo from fading. CōTZ sunscreens are perfect for tattoos because they reflect the UV light away and don’t absorb it into the ink. Wait until your tattoo has healed before applying sunscreen.
